Hand Sanitizer Recipe To Make it Yourself at Home

The Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus is transmitted through salivary droplets emitted when coughing, talking, sneezing or through contaminated objects. In order to protect oneself from the coronavirus, but also to protect others, the adoption of "barrier gestures" is essential. The recommendations to be implemented are as follows:

  • Wash your hands very frequently;
  • cough or sneeze into your elbow;
  • stop hugging and shaking hands;
  • use disposable tissues and dispose of them immediately;
  • keep movement and contact to a minimum.

To wash your hands effectively, it is advisable to scrub them thoroughly and area by area with soap and water for at least 30 seconds. A gesture to be repeated as often as possible! If there is no water available, a hand sanitizer can be used. Again, this product should be rubbed zone by zone for at least 30 seconds.

Problem: when the coronavirus began to spread in Vermont, sales outlets were quickly emptied of their stock of antibacterial solutions. These products, sold in bottles, are aseptic and cutaneous solutions that are used to disinfect the hands. Due to the shortage of hand sanitizer, their price had risen sharply.

How to use hand sanitizer properly ?

First thing: do not use hand sanitizer on wet hands. They should only be used on dry hands. These solutions are not a substitute for washing with warm water and soap, as they do not completely clean your hands. However, if soap and water are not available, they can be useful.

Can you make your own hand sanitizer ?

To make up for the absence of hand sanitizer in our pharmacies or supermarkets, you can make some in a few steps:

  • Remember to disinfect your bottle and utensils with alcohol at 70°C to eliminate any germs.
  • Then pour 3 tablespoons of 70°C alcohol into your container.
  • 2 teaspoons of glycerin
  • 6 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • 46 drops of lavender essential oil (essential oils are very allergenic, remember to test them beforehand on a small part of your skin).
  • 18 drops of tea tree essential oil

For this recipe of hand sanitizer, you will need a small container of about 75 ml. Don't forget to note the date of preparation, as hand-made solutions do not keep for more than three months.
